Day Eighteen

A picture of your biggest insecurity

I'm a big believer in this ^^ statement. My biggest insecurity is that I hate being alone!

PS. I got my scores back from National Boards today :) I wish any of you could understand the time, stress, the worrying, and the waiting that went into this exam. I did really well... and I'm so happy to have passed. One more thing to cross off my checklist.

Day Seventeen

A picture of something that has made a huge impact on your life recently

Well my life is definitely changing a lot this month. It's felt unreal to come home from school, go to the gym, blog, get crafty, watch movies, sleep etc. Basically do anything but study. While I'm still waiting to hear back from my national boards, I'm done with all of my written exams and suddenly find myself with all of this free time.

I'm so looking forward to this summer and the rest of my life... having time to actually do things I enjoy! Since I couldn't necessarily take a picture of my "free time", I chose to show you this cute tea cup candle that I made.

All you have to do is find a tea cup you love, glue a wick with a base to the bottom of the cup, and melt wax chips from a craft store to poor around your wick. Love it.

Day Sixteen

A picture of someone who inspires you

Oh these brothers of mine.

I was completely obsessive about school starting at age 5. I can't tell you what I put my family through for 13 years of my life, obsessing over every single homework assignment and test ever since I was a baby. Tears were involved at least a couple times a week from 1st grade till I graduated high school, because I had to be "the best". Do you know what I think? I think a lot of this had to do with the fact that I wanted to eventually be smarter than Kodi. I don't know if he knows this, but it's true.

And growing up, I always wanted to be as cool as Acey. I loved being "Acey's little sister". That's probably (definitely) why I cut my hair in a bowl cut when I was 7. I wanted to look just like him. As I got older I wanted all of his friends to have crushes on me. [I eventually found out I was too good for them].

But even more inspiring than Kodi's whit and Acey's like-ability is the men they have become. I loved watching my brothers become husbands and fathers. They both treat their wives in ways that I would love to be treated. And they are both the cutest dads.

I tell people all the time that I am obsessed with my brothers, and it's true.

Day Fifteen

A picture of something you want to do before you die

I want to run a marathon. I love to run, even though I'm terrible at it. But a marathon has always been a distant goal of mine. There is a marathon in Prague ever year, that ends with crossing this bridge. Can you imagine? How beautiful will that be. I'll do it some day :)

My girls

Sometimes I forget what it's like not to work on a weekend night...

Last night Becca took me to dinner with Jamie and Em Tate. Have you been to Malawi's Pizza? I'ts one of our favorites.

But as I was saying, I'm loving the feeling of being able to do things on weekends. Only a couple more months Red Lob!

Day Fourteen

A picture of someone you couldn't imagine your life without

That person would be my sista sis Teddy.

Teddy and I fought a lot growing up (as sisters do), but in adulthood we've become really good friends. She is so thoughtful and is ALWAYS willing to surprise me with Diet Coke when I need it, fill my cupboards and fridge with groceries when I'm too busy, and this week she took it to a whole new level.

Example 1: Anesthesia board exams. I started studying on Monday - only 5 days ahead of time. Teddy came over for HOURS every single day and quized me to help my studying. Then Friday hit. She read me 50 pages of my textbook, and quized me until midnight. Then midnight came along and she offered to sleep over to make sure I woke up on time. When she went to move her car so it wouldn't get towed, she went all the way home to bring me melatonin to help me sleep. Then she came all the way back and slept on my extra mattress! She woke up with me at 6:00, and calmed me down before my test. I seriously couldn't have done it without her. She's the best/funniest person EVER.

And guess what? I PASSED MY ANESTHESIA BOARDS. Wahooo!

I was so grateful today for my steady hand (but really). The exams both went great and I was more than thrilled to get my "success memo"

Day 13

A picture of your favorite band or artist

Florence & the Machine, you know I'm rockin' that errry day. Now I must sleep or throw up about my anesthesia boards tomorrow.

P.S. Teddy is the best sister IN THE WORLD. More on that tomorrow.

What keeps me going

Knowing that it's ALMOST over. Another board exam tomorrow... still haven't heard back about the national written. But on the bright side, I got my cap and gown yesterday :)

And today I got this lovely piece of mail from mother dear, which makes me even more excited

And last but not least, good food and DC is the only reason I'm able to sit and study for hours on end. I love me some DC and baba ganoush pita!

Day Twelve

A picture of something you love

Ranunculas. Or any flower. Any time, any day.

Day Eleven

A picture of the person you do the most adventurous things with

I haven't done anything adventurous in a while, but seeing how I got my CAP AND GOWN yesterday, it's almost time to break loose! Anyone who knows Panda [mom] knows that she is the most adventurous person ever. I know I have it in me too! Ever since I was little, she has been able to talk me into doing things I think are WAY too risky/irresponsible. I seem to remember her begging me to stay home from school and "play" with her, starting at age 8. And I never would because I had to go to school and be responsible. But she eventually cracked me, and has gotten me to break the law with her on numerous occasions.

Mother dear, you are crazy. And not a day over 18. Thanks for taking the time to teach me that I don't always have to be responsible.

Here are a few of my favorite adventures with my mom:

The time she got all of my friends to put coconut bra's on and go to Walmart with her, just because she didn't want to go alone.

Taking a ladder to PF Changs at 2:00 AM and climbing on the horse...

And one of my personal fave's, the time she schemed against me when I was 15 on a river trip. A group of us were sitting around talking and my mom kept "needing to get something out of the ice cooler" so that this stranger/river guide would have to get up and sit by me. Then when he finally did, everyone scrammed and left me with him, because he had a crush on me and my mom wanted us to kiss. Did I mention that he was probably like 22 and I was 15?? For the readers, it didn't happen. I was too mad at my mom, Teddy, and Becca for leaving me!

Day Ten

A picture of something you hate

I might get a lot of flack for this one... but really. Just because you have a nice camera doesn't mean you need to claim yourself as a photographer. Taking amazing photos is HARD. Not everyone can do it. If you DO have a talent for it, I'm jealous! I am definitely not a photographer. I do have a nice camera, but that's just because I want my mediocre photos to have decent quality. I could go on, but I better stop before this hits people too close to home :)

XOXOX

Day Nine

A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

I don't want to slight anyone because I have so many great people in my life. But one person that comes to mind is Bradley.

Even though time and our lives have taken us in different ways, and we don't talk much anymore, he was a really sincere friend to me through a lot of hard things. I'll always love him for that. Thanks Bradley

Calm down U.S.

Q&A: Worries outweigh radiation threats in U.S.

All that worrying might cause more harm than the radiation from the Japan nuclear accident, experts say. A look at some common concerns

Generous people helping Japan

I'm not a huge fan of working on Sundays. It's really hard not to be able to sleep in, go to church, come home and relax. I worked all day today, but I had an idea which I think really changed my attitude about working this Sunday. I decided to donate my tips from the day to disaster relief in Japan. At the end of each table's meal, when I dropped off the check, I let my guests know about the tips being donated.

I was SO impressed with people's generosity. I know it is small, and I know that a couple hundred dollars isn't going to change anyone's life, but I also know that a little bit from a lot of people can go a long way.

Gordon B. Hinckley

This man really knew what he was talking about.

Day Eight

A picture that makes you laugh

Freshman year at BYU, playing pranks on the "106 boys", this night in particular we wore pantyhose on our heads while we confetti-ed their apartment and froze all of their underwear...

This picture still gets me every time.

Day Seven

A picture of your most treasured item

If you know me, you're well aware that my most treasured item are my thousands of pictures. I love looking through pictures and remembering the great times when they were taken. So I guess this means one of my most treasured items is my camera, for taking pictures, and my hard drive for saving them. And here are some pictures of last night for your viewing pleasure :)

Sister and I at Bangkok

I'm so glad Teddy and I have been spending so much time together lately.

I had my "mock clinical" exam today, and great news, I passed :) I had school from 8-5 Monday through Saturday this week. Just trying to find some strength to make it to the end.

Anesthesia boards are next weekend, and I'm not prepared AT ALL for them. I guess with the clinical exam today, and my written exam last week, I had no motivation to study anesthesia. Let the cramming begin.

Day Six

A picture of the person you'd love to trade places with for a day

It's a tough one. I'd love to switch lives with anyone, just for a day. But this week I'll go with Camilla Belle so I can be kissin on Jake Gyllenhaal :)

Day Five

A picture of your favorite memory

Honestly, there is no way to choose only one favorite memory. I scrolled through picture after picture for an hour trying to pick one, and there are so many memories that are dear to me.

But if I must, I'll say my most significant memory was singing a solo in Carnegie Hall. I miss it. In all the excitement of the night, it somehow slipped my mind to take pictures so I am left with this one, very off centered picture of myself backstage. Amazing memory.

Day Four

A picture of your night

My life is really exciting. I actually got a message on Facebook today from a stranger that said "I feel like I've seen you on one occasion or another. Probably just around the Provo hotspots, perchance?"

To which I replied "maybe you've seen me... but I don't go to 'hotspots'".

It's true. My days consist of school and clinic, my nights consist of the gym and studying. Especially when my Meemers and Ronron are out of town. So as it goes, day 4 asked for a picture of my night.

I started the night early with a lil' happy hour pick me up.

I then attempted to study for my anesthesia boards, which resulted in me doing anything I could to avoid studying.

Then I went crazy.

So I went over to Becca's house, and we bit all of her See's chocolate from Valentines day in half to see what was inside. And pretended that I like dogs.

That's all for tonight folks!

UDA

Even though I am more excited than you know to graduate in less than a month, I am starting to realize how much I will miss these girls that I've spent the last 2 years of my life with. 8 hours a day, 4 (sometimes 5 or 6) days a week has given us some really great memories! We presented table clinics at a Dental Convention in the Salt Palace last Friday :)

Mrs. Stiddham is one of our absolute favorite clinic instructors. She cracks me up daily.

Love you ladies!

Day Three

A picture of the cast from your favorite show

This one is easy. I live for Grey's Anatomy. It ruins my night when they don't show a new episode. I love you, McDreamy.

A few runner-ups would be Friends, and (don't judge me) Gossip Girl, and Glee. Totally embarrassing.

What is your favorite show? Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Monday, March 14, 2011

Day Two

A picture of you and someone you've been close with for a while

We were attached at the hip since day 1. Becca... we've known each other since we were scrawny, awkward little girls.

Rockin' the uniforms at Longfellow elementary

Our first photo with a digital camera... don't mind TP's crazy eyes

And guess what? We are still friends.

DAY 1: A picture of yourself with 15 facts

1. I am not a huge fan of daylight savings (Arizonans just don't understand the concept) and tonight I'm really sad to be losing an hour.

2. I once counted how many people asked me "what is your name short for?" or "is that your real name?" or "were your parent's planning on having a boy?" while I was at work. 23 people in one shift. I love my name, and even though I get tired of people asking me about it, I wouldn't have it any other way.

3. When I was in high school, I was president of the Physics club. I was also a mathlete.

4. I am addicted to Diet Coke. This is a problem. The pH of DC is 3.39, and I am well aware that enamel can break down at any level under 5.5. But my love for Diet Coke overrides my knowledge of cavity rates.

5. I've lived in Provo for 4 years, and now that I'm graduating college, I have to decide if I want to leave the place that feels like home to me.

6. My room is almost always a mess. I'm quite a tidy person when it comes to the kitchen, living room, bathroom etc. But you can always count on a pile of clothes on my bedroom floor :)

7. I am a former BYU cougar. I absolutely loved my time there.

8. I love reading and I can't wait to have time to read a fun book again. Not a textbook.

9. I am obsessed with taking pictures, and looking at my old pictures. I can't express how often I get caught up in my 30,000 pictures on my computer.

10. I am vegetarian, yet I'm not a huge fan of animals. Kind of ironic.

11. 9 times out of 10, I would rather have a salty snack than something sweet.

12. I was born an entrepreneur. At age 5, Becca and I made a fort in the front yard. We made a sign that said "Give us 10 cents if you like our fort!". We both left with a few dimes. Genius. At age 7, Becca and I started having lemonade stands on the corner. One day we walked away with 15$ each! This is why I ALWAYS stop at kids' lemonade stands. At age 13, I made myself a purse out of an old pair of my jeans. Everyone liked it so I started selling them for $20. It kept me quite busy for a few months. And finally in high school, I started teaching piano lessons. I had 15 students over 2 years, and it was such an awesome job to help me save for college.

13. I miss Jamie when she is out of town. Like right now. She's in New York and it's killlling me.

14. I absolutely love to cook, and I love cooking for other people.

15. I am extremely tired, and I just lost an hour to daylight savings. So I'm going to bed.

Last minute thoughts before the board exam tomorrow

Just went to Yogurtland, and now I'm going to bed. Hopefully my lack of preparation doesn't show tomorrow :)

Bringin' me huge Diet Coke to get me through the night, and stocking my kitchen with groceries. Gotta love her.

Rolling in the deep

Dear next door neighbors [Shelbs and Ash]. If you hear this song playing really loud and someone singing, it's me.

Em and Ry

I went to Emily Tate's Bridal shower this morning, and I think I need to publicly announce how much I love her and Ryan. They are two of my best friends, and I'm so happy I was living with Em, and next door to Ry while they met and dated. I feel like I was a part of it! And this week they are getting married :) Congratulations, I love you!

I can handle the next 5 days

I hate studying for boards. But I can do it, and I can do well. SO pumped to be done with it and do fun things again :)
